PHYT App Alternative: An Honest Fitycal vs PHYT Comparison
Updated 17 October 2026
If you are searching for a PHYT app alternative, you are probably looking for another way to track body composition with your phone, perhaps with a 3D view, tape-style measurements or a training plan. This page compares PHYT and Fitycal side by side. Every PHYT fact comes from its own App Store or Google Play listing, checked on 17 October 2026.
Which PHYT? We mean "PHYT: The Body Composition App" from The Getfitta Group Limited on the App Store and Google Play. The name is also used by phyt.fun, which today shows only a "PHYT | SOON" holding page; a third-party guide describes it as a crypto game project (airdrops.io), not a body tracking app, so we do not cover it here.
Disclosure: Fitycal is our app. We have tried to be fair, and we say plainly where PHYT is the better pick.
Short version: Stick with PHYT if you want a quick body composition readout that includes visceral fat, bone mass and a "PHYT Age" score, with a free first scan and up to 14 days free. Pick Fitycal if you want to see your body as a rotatable 3D avatar, track 25+ circumferences scan to scan, and get a monthly workout plan built from your latest scan.

PHYT: what it does well and where it falls short
PHYT is built around one idea: weight alone does not tell you what your body is made of. You record a short video, and the app returns a body composition breakdown that it suggests you repeat every week (App Store).
Does well:
Health-first metrics. Visceral fat and bone mass are on the list, which Fitycal does not report. PHYT also turns your results into a body composition age, PHYT Age (App Store).
Clear audience. The listing names fat loss, protecting muscle, ageing and people managing their health on GLP-1 medication. If that is you, the framing fits.
Easy to try. The first scan is free and new subscribers get up to 14 days free (App Store).
Older phones. It runs on iOS 15.1 or later, while Fitycal needs iOS 17 (App Store).
Plain language. The listing promises insights explained without jargon.
Falls short:
No published validation. The listing says the AI model was built with professors of AI and physical science, but it cites no study or accuracy figure, and we could not find one.
Numbers, not a picture. No avatar, 3D model or circumference measurements are mentioned, so you cannot see where on your body a change happened.
No training plan. The listing does not mention workouts or nutrition plans; you take the data elsewhere.
Price. $79.99 a year is more than the yearly plans of ZOZOFIT or Bodymapp, as listed in our Fitycal vs ZOZOFIT vs Bodymapp comparison.
Little public feedback and slower updates. One US rating, 17 in the UK, 100+ Android downloads, and the latest iOS version, 1.1.9, dates from 5 June 2026.
Where Fitycal fits
Fitycal is built around a fast scan you can see and compare: a 10-second 360 degree phone scan, an HD avatar you can rotate, body fat %, lean mass, fat mass and 25+ circumferences, scans side by side, and a monthly workout plan built from your latest scan. It runs on both iPhone and Android.
Where it is weaker: Fitycal is new and has very few public ratings, it does not report visceral fat, bone mass or a body age score, and it does not track food. If those health markers are what you care about most, PHYT covers more of them.
How accurate are PHYT and Fitycal?
Both apps say they are not medical devices and that results are estimates. PHYT does not publish a validation study against DEXA on its listing. Its listing also does not explain how bone mass and visceral fat are estimated from a video, both of which DEXA measures directly.
Research on phone scanning in general gives a useful guide. A 2024 study of a smartphone 3D scanning app in 131 adults found very high repeatability but a mean absolute error of about 3.5 body fat points against DXA (Tinsley et al., Frontiers in Medicine, 2024). That pattern applies to Fitycal too: phone scans are best for tracking your own trend, not for one exact number. Our phone body scan vs DEXA accuracy guide explains it in detail.
Why every Fitycal scan asks for your weight
A camera sees shape, not mass. Fitycal combines your body shape with your current weight to estimate fat mass and lean mass, so each scan asks you to enter your weight from any ordinary scale. PHYT's listing does not say whether it asks for weight or height. Either way, the scale still has a place: the scan shows where change happened, the scale gives the total.
When to stick with PHYT
Visceral fat, bone mass and a body composition age matter more to you than a 3D view or tape measurements.
You want a weekly health readout explained in plain language, not a training app.
You are on an iPhone that cannot run iOS 17.
You want to try it free: one scan, then up to 14 days.
Who should pick which
You want health markers like visceral fat and bone mass: PHYT.
You want to see your body in 3D and rotate it: Fitycal.

FAQ
What is a good alternative to the PHYT app?
If you want a 3D view and measurements, Fitycal is a PHYT alternative on iPhone and Android: a 10-second 360 degree scan, an HD rotatable avatar, body fat %, lean mass, 25+ circumferences, scans side by side and a monthly workout plan built from your latest scan. If you want a free plan with no time limit, ZOZOFIT is another camera scanning option (zozofit.com).
Is the PHYT app free?
Partly. PHYT is free to download and the first scan is free. New subscribers can get up to a 14-day free trial, then it costs $12.99 a month or $79.99 a year on the US App Store as of 17 October 2026.
Is PHYT accurate?
PHYT does not publish a validation study or accuracy figure on its listing, and it says results are estimates, not for diagnosis or treatment. Phone scanning in general is very repeatable but can be a few body fat points off DEXA for an individual, so scan the same way each time and watch the trend.
Does PHYT work on Android?
Yes. PHYT: The Body Composition App is on Google Play from The Getfitta Group Ltd, last updated on 21 May 2026, with 100+ downloads.
What is PHYT Age?
PHYT Age is the app's body composition age: it turns your scan results into a biological age style score. The listing does not explain how it is calculated, so treat it as a motivational number rather than a medical one.
The bottom line
PHYT is a simple way to get a weekly body composition readout with health markers like visceral fat and bone mass. If you would rather see your whole body change in 3D, with measurements and a plan that follows from them, try Fitycal: do a 10-second scan with your phone today, scan again in four weeks, and compare the two side by side.
