ScanFit Alternative: What ScanFit Actually Is, and How Fitycal Compares
Updated 17 October 2026
If you search for "ScanFit", you will find more than one product with that name. That matters, because they work in completely different ways. One is a photo app that estimates your body fat from two pictures. The other is a Danish company, Scanfit ApS, whose app works with its own body composition scale and food scale. This page explains both, then compares them with Fitycal side by side. Every ScanFit fact comes from the product's own website or store listing, checked on 17 October 2026.
Disclosure: Fitycal is our app. We have tried to be fair, and we say plainly where a ScanFit product is the better pick.
Short version: If you want a quick body fat estimate from two photos on an iPhone, the ScanFit photo app does that. If you want a smart scale that measures visceral fat and muscle by bioimpedance and an app that also tracks food, Scanfit ApS from Denmark is the better fit. If you want a full 3D avatar from a 10-second 360 degree phone scan, side by side scan comparisons and a monthly workout plan built from your latest scan, on iPhone or Android, pick Fitycal.
Which ScanFit do you mean?
1. ScanFit: AI Body Fat Scanner (iPhone). Published by Jaime Suarez Fernandez. You take a front photo and a side photo, enter your weight, and get an estimated body fat percentage and BMI, with a history of your results (App Store). This is the one most people mean when they look for a body scan app called ScanFit.
2. Scanfit from Scanfit ApS (Denmark). A Danish company in Hørsholm that sells bioimpedance body composition scales (the Body Pilot and the cheaper Kropsscanner 2.0), an AI food scale and a companion app (scanfit.dk). The iPhone app is called ScanFit, Food & Body Analysis (App Store) and the Android app is Scanfit, Your Health Coach (Google Play). The site is in Danish and prices are in Danish kroner.
Neither ScanFit builds a 3D model of your body. That is the main difference from Fitycal.

ScanFit: AI Body Fat Scanner, strengths and limits
Does well:
Simple. Two photos and your weight, and you get a number. No suit, no turning in a circle.
Private by design. The listing says photos stay in a private account with no sharing or social features, and you can delete any measurement (App Store).
Low cost. The Pro prices on the listing are lower than most body scan subscriptions.
Falls short:
Body fat and BMI only. No circumferences, no lean mass, no 3D model.
Very little public feedback. Four ratings on the US App Store, and one of them complains that results sit behind a payment.
No accuracy data. The listing calls the results estimates for informational purposes and does not cite a validation study. Height is not mentioned as an input.
iPhone only. We found no Android version.
Scanfit (Denmark), strengths and limits
Does well:
More body composition detail. A BIA scale can report visceral fat, muscle and water, and the Body Pilot lists about 45 values, plus segmental results for arms, torso and legs on the iPhone listing (App Store).
Food and body in one place. Meal photos, barcode scanning and an AI kitchen scale feed the same app, with Apple Health, Health Connect and Garmin sync.
Families. The Android app supports up to 10 profiles on one device (Google Play).
Falls short:
You buy hardware. The Body Pilot costs 1,495 DKK (scanfit.dk), and the app is built around it.
No shape tracking. A scale gives numbers, not a picture of where your body changed.
Accuracy claim needs context. The site claims about 98 to 98.5% agreement with DEXA, based on a third-party report it links, but the same page lists lower figures per metric, such as 88% for fat mass (scanfit.dk). We could not find a peer-reviewed study.
Not for everyone. The site says people with a pacemaker or ICD should not use it, and pregnant users should ask a doctor first.
Danish market. The website is in Danish only, with prices in kroner.
Where Fitycal fits
Fitycal is a 3D body scan tracker, not a food app or a scale. You turn 360 degrees in front of your phone for about 10 seconds and get an HD avatar you can rotate, plus body fat %, lean mass, fat mass and circumference measurements. You can put any two scans side by side and see exactly where you changed. After a scan, the app builds a monthly workout plan from your latest results (App Store).
Where it is weaker: Fitycal is new, with very few public ratings, and it has no published validation study of its own. It does not measure visceral fat or body water the way a BIA scale does, and it does not track food. It is free during the trial, then paid.
How accurate are photo scans and BIA scales?
Phone scans are very repeatable but not exact for one person. A 2024 study of a smartphone 3D scanning app in 131 adults found a mean absolute error of about 3.5 body fat points against DXA, with very high repeatability (Tinsley et al., Frontiers in Medicine, 2024). The practical rule is the same for every tool on this page: measure the same way each time, at the same time of day, and watch the trend. Our phone body scan vs DEXA accuracy guide goes into the details.
Why every Fitycal scan asks for your weight
A camera sees shape, not mass. Fitycal combines your body shape with your current weight to estimate fat mass and lean mass, so each scan asks you to enter your weight from any ordinary scale. The ScanFit photo app works the same way: it asks for your weight too.

FAQ
What is a good alternative to ScanFit?
If you want more than a body fat number, Fitycal is a ScanFit alternative on iPhone and Android: a 10-second 360 degree phone scan, an HD 3D avatar, body fat, lean mass and circumferences, side by side comparisons and a monthly workout plan. If you want a free 3D scanner, ZOZOFIT (zozofit.com) and MeThreeSixty (methreesixty.com) both offer free scans.
Is ScanFit the same as Scanfit from Denmark?
No. ScanFit: AI Body Fat Scanner is an iPhone photo app published by Jaime Suarez Fernandez. Scanfit ApS is a Danish company that sells a bioimpedance body scale and a food scale, with its own iPhone and Android apps.
Is ScanFit accurate?
The photo app does not cite a validation study and calls its results estimates. Scanfit ApS claims about 98% agreement with DEXA for its scale, based on a report it links, with lower per-metric figures such as 88% for fat mass. Treat both as trend trackers, not as medical tests.
Does ScanFit make a 3D body model?
Not that we could find. The photo app gives body fat % and BMI, and the Danish Scanfit uses a scale. Fitycal builds an HD 3D avatar you can rotate from a 360 degree phone scan.
Does ScanFit work on Android?
The Danish Scanfit app does, on Google Play. We found no Android version of ScanFit: AI Body Fat Scanner as of 17 October 2026.
The bottom line
Both ScanFit products do one thing well: a quick photo estimate, or a detailed scale reading with food tracking. If you want to see your shape change and train from it, try Fitycal: do a 10-second scan with your phone today, scan again in four weeks, and compare the two side by side.
