Updated 17 October 2026

If you are searching for a PhysiqMax alternative, you probably want one of two things: a different way to see what your training is doing to your body, or numbers you can measure instead of scores. This page compares PhysiqMax and Fitycal side by side. Every PhysiqMax fact comes from its own App Store or Google Play listing, checked on 17 October 2026.

Which PhysiqMax? The app listed today is "PhysiqMax: Gym Workout Tracker", published by Benjamin Nketia on the App Store (copyright Stimtroop) and by StimTroop LLC on Google Play. Search results also show an older App Store page for a PhysiqMax app from Smoothware Solutions LLC (id 6753907829), but that page now returns "not found", so we could not check it and do not cover it here.

Disclosure: Fitycal is our app. We have tried to be fair, and we say plainly where PhysiqMax is the better pick.

Short version: Stick with PhysiqMax if you are a lifter who wants each muscle group scored from two photos, a free workout logger with ranks and leaderboards, and meal photo logging. Pick Fitycal if you want measurements rather than scores: body fat %, lean mass, 25+ circumferences and a rotatable 3D avatar from a 10-second 360 degree scan, compared scan to scan, with a monthly workout plan built from your latest scan.

PhysiqMax: what it does well and where it falls short

PhysiqMax describes itself with the loop "scan, train, eat, rank, rescan". You take a front and back photo, the app scores your muscle groups, and the training side points you at the areas that are lagging (App Store).

Does well:

  • Built for lifters. Every muscle group gets its own score, so you can see at a glance which areas lead and which lag (App Store).

  • A real free tier. Workout logging, ranks, friends and leaderboards are free; only the scans need Pro (App Store).

  • Motivation. Ranks from Bronze to Champion, streaks, levels and leaderboards turn training into a game, which some people find keeps them consistent.

  • Food in the same app. On iPhone it now estimates calories and macros from a meal photo and reads steps and calories burned from Apple Health (App Store release notes).

  • Cheap per year. $29.99 a year for Pro is low for this category.

Falls short:

  • Scores, not measurements. The listing describes ratings such as "leanness" and "potential", not body fat %, lean mass or centimeters. The listing itself says physique scores are estimates "for informational and motivational use only".

  • Two flat photos. A front and a back photo cannot show your sides, and the listing does not say how lighting, pose or distance are controlled between scans.

  • Weekly pricing adds up. At $7.99 a week, a year of the weekly plan would cost about $415, so pick the yearly plan if you stay.

  • Little public feedback. 6 ratings on the US App Store and 10+ downloads on Google Play. The app was first released in May 2026.

Where Fitycal fits

Fitycal is built around measuring, not rating: a 10-second 360 degree phone scan, an HD avatar you can rotate, body fat %, lean mass and 25+ circumferences, scans side by side, and a monthly workout plan built from your latest scan. It runs on both iPhone and Android.

Where it is weaker: Fitycal is new and has very few public ratings, it does not track food, and it has no ranks or leaderboards. If you want a free tier with no time limit, PhysiqMax has one for workout logging; Fitycal is free for the first month only. Fitycal also needs iOS 17 or later, while PhysiqMax runs on iOS 15.

Scores vs measurements: the real difference

A physique score answers "how developed do I look?" A body scan answers "how many centimeters did my waist lose, and how much of my weight is lean mass?" Both can be useful, but they are different questions.

Neither PhysiqMax nor Fitycal is a medical device, and both outputs are estimates. PhysiqMax does not publish a validation study for its scores on its listing, and we could not find one. For phone body scanning in general, a 2024 study of a smartphone 3D scanning app in 131 adults found very high repeatability but a mean absolute error of about 3.5 body fat points against DXA (Tinsley et al., Frontiers in Medicine, 2024). So phone scans are best for tracking your own trend, not for one exact number. Our phone body scan vs DEXA accuracy guide explains it in detail.

Why every Fitycal scan asks for your weight

A camera sees shape, not mass. Fitycal combines your body shape with your current weight to estimate fat mass and lean mass, so each scan asks you to enter your weight from any ordinary scale. The scan shows where change happened, the scale gives the total.

When to stick with PhysiqMax

  • You mainly lift and want each muscle group rated so you know what to bring up.

  • You enjoy ranks, streaks and competing with friends on a leaderboard.

  • You want workout logging, meal photo logging and physique checks in one app.

  • You are on an older iPhone that cannot run iOS 17.

Who should pick which

  • You want a muscle-by-muscle score and a gamified gym log: PhysiqMax.

FAQ

What is a good alternative to PhysiqMax?

If you want measurements instead of physique scores, Fitycal is a PhysiqMax alternative on iPhone and Android: a 10-second 360 degree scan, an HD 3D avatar, body fat %, lean mass, 25+ circumferences, scans side by side and a monthly workout plan built from your latest scan. If you want camera scanning with a free plan, ZOZOFIT is another option (zozofit.com).

Is PhysiqMax free?

Partly. Workout tracking, ranks and friends are free, but physique scans need PhysiqMax Pro, listed at $7.99 a week, $12.99 a month or $29.99 a year on the US App Store as of 17 October 2026.

Does PhysiqMax measure body fat?

Its listing does not mention a body fat percentage. It gives an overall "leanness" rating alongside scores for muscle mass, symmetry, definition, potential and each muscle group.

Is PhysiqMax accurate?

PhysiqMax does not publish a validation study for its scores, and its listing calls them estimates for informational and motivational use. Treat the scores as a guide to your own trend, taken with the same lighting and pose each time.

Does PhysiqMax work on Android?

Yes. PhysiqMax: Gym Workout Tracker is on Google Play from StimTroop LLC, last updated on 6 October 2026. The Android listing does not yet mention the meal photo logging found on iPhone.

The bottom line

PhysiqMax is a fun, low cost way for lifters to get their muscles scored and their training gamified. If you would rather track real measurements of your whole body over time, try Fitycal: do a 10-second scan with your phone today, scan again in four weeks, and compare the two side by side.
