Recomp AI Alternative for Android: Body Recomposition Tracking on Your Phone

Updated 20 October 2026

Recomp AI is a 3D body scanner built for body recomposition: losing fat and building muscle at the same time. It is popular on iPhone, but if you search Google Play for it, you will not find it. This page explains what Recomp AI does, and compares the Android apps that do the same job. Every Recomp AI and competitor fact comes from the app's own store listing or website, checked on 20 October 2026.

Disclosure: Fitycal is our app. We have tried to be fair, and we say where another app is the better pick.

Short version: Recomp AI ("Recomp AI – 3D Body Scanner" by ISO Labs LLC) is listed as "Only for iPhone", and we found no Android version on Google Play. On Android, Fitycal, ZOZOFIT and MeThreeSixty all scan your body in 3D with the phone camera and let you compare scans side by side. Pick MeThreeSixty or ZOZOFIT for a free plan, and Fitycal for a 10-second 360 degree scan with a workout plan built from your results.

Is Recomp AI available on Android?

Not as of 20 October 2026. Recomp AI's App Store listing says "Only for iPhone" and requires iOS 18 or later, with Mac (Apple M1 or later) and Apple Vision versions (App Store). We searched Google Play for Recomp AI and its developer, ISO Labs LLC, and found no listing.

Watch out for the name: there is a second iPhone app called "Recomp AI - Body Recomposition" by a different developer, which is a chat-based calorie and macro tracker, not a body scanner (App Store). Google Play also has unrelated apps with "recomp" in the name.

What Recomp AI does well

From its App Store listing:

  • Built for recomp. It is pitched at seeing how your body changes "week by week, not just what the scale says."

  • Region-by-region data. Body fat %, lean mass, body water and circumferences for chest, arms, waist, glutes, thighs and calves.

  • 3D comparison. An interactive 3D wireframe you can rotate, and side by side 3D model comparisons.

  • Strong ratings. 4.6 from 749 US App Store ratings.

Where it falls short: it is iPhone only, the subscription options run from $4.99 to $14.99 a week or $19.99 to $34.99 a year, and some reviews mention inconsistent results between similar scans and billing questions. Its listing also says insights "are not a substitute for clinical body composition testing such as DXA."

Which Android alternative should you pick?

  • You want the closest match to Recomp AI's recomp focus: Fitycal. It reports lean mass and fat mass separately, compares scans side by side and builds a monthly workout plan from your latest scan, which is the training half of a recomp.

  • You want free and well reviewed: MeThreeSixty or ZOZOFIT. Both have free plans and far more Google Play reviews than Fitycal.

  • You also log food: ZOZOFIT has an AI food journal built in.

  • You are on a GLP-1: MeThreeSixty logs your doses next to your scans.

Fitycal is new, with few public ratings so far, and it does not track food. If those matter most, the other two are safer picks.

How to track a recomp with a phone scan

A recomp is hard to see on a scale because fat and muscle can move in opposite directions. A simple routine:

  1. Scan every 4 weeks, same time of day, same fitted clothing, same spot and light.

  2. Weigh in first and enter that weight with the scan.

  3. Compare fat mass and lean mass, not only weight. In a successful recomp, fat mass falls while lean mass holds or rises.

  4. Check the waist and arm or thigh measurements for where the change happened.

  5. Log one or two lifts. Rising strength backs up what the scan shows.

Worked example

Over 12 weeks, a lifter's weight goes from 70.0 kg to 69.8 kg, so the scale barely moves. Their first and last scans estimate fat mass going from 17.5 kg to 15.8 kg and lean mass from 52.5 kg to 54.0 kg. That is 1.7 kg less fat and 1.5 kg more lean, with body fat dropping from 25% to about 22.6%. The scale says nothing happened; the scan comparison shows a recomp.

Why every Fitycal scan needs your weight

A camera sees shape, not mass. Fitycal combines your body shape with the weight you enter to estimate fat mass and lean mass, so every scan asks for your current weight from any ordinary scale.

How accurate are phone body scans?

None of the apps above publishes a peer-reviewed DEXA comparison of its own body fat estimate on its site or listing. Research on phone 3D scanning shows an average error of about 3.5 body fat points against DXA, with repeat scans agreeing within about half a point (Tinsley et al., Frontiers in Medicine, 2024). Use any of them for your trend, not for a single exact number. Our phone body scan vs DEXA accuracy guide explains more.

FAQ

Is Recomp AI available on Android?

No. As of 20 October 2026, Recomp AI's 3D body scanner is listed as "Only for iPhone" on the App Store, and we found no Recomp AI listing from its developer on Google Play.

What is the best Recomp AI alternative for Android?

For a recomp focus, Fitycal is a close match on Android: a 10-second 360 degree scan, lean mass and fat mass, side by side scan comparisons and a monthly workout plan built from your latest scan. If you want a free plan with many reviews, MeThreeSixty and ZOZOFIT are good Android options too.

Is there a free body recomposition app for Android?

MeThreeSixty and ZOZOFIT both have free plans on Android with 3D scans. Fitycal has a free trial, then a subscription.

Can a phone app track body recomposition?

Yes, as a trend. A phone 3D scan app estimates fat mass and lean mass from your shape and weight, so comparing scans every 4 weeks shows whether fat is going down while lean mass holds or rises, even when the scale barely moves.

Do I need a smart scale for a recomp app?

No, but you need a weight. Scan apps that estimate fat mass and lean mass use your current weight, so weigh yourself on any ordinary scale before each scan.

The bottom line

Recomp AI is a solid recomp scanner, but only on iPhone. On Android, you have real alternatives. If you want a scan that takes seconds and a plan that follows from it, try Fitycal: enter your weight, do a 10-second scan with your phone today, scan again in four weeks, and compare the two side by side.
